Met de halfautomatische slijp- en polijstmachines kan zowel enkelvoudige als centrale druk worden toegepast. De centrale druk maakt het slijpen en polijsten van ingebedde, niet-ingebedde en overmaatse preparaten mogelijk. In combinatie met een afnamemeting kan desgewenst automatisch worden geslepen tot een gedefinieerde preparaathoogte. Met één druk kunnen tot zes preparaten (afhankelijk van de preparaathouder) van verschillende grootte in één preparaathouder worden verwerkt door op afzonderlijke plunjers te drukken.
